Buah keluak is the dark, earthy nut at the heart of Peranakan cooking — slow-cooked with pork and aromatics into a rich, almost truffle-like stew that is deeply savoury and intensely flavoured.

Bunga kantan, or torch ginger flower, perfumes many Peranakan dishes with its bright, floral-citrus fragrance. It is the aromatic soul of rojak, laksa, and nasi ulam.

A blush-coral sour under a soft white crown — earthy blue agave meeting the dark, savoury funk of Moutai, lifted by passion fruit and mango, sharpened with lime, and rounded on agave's sweetness. The egg white settles into a smooth dome you break through to reach the fruit beneath.
